Ways to make product guides more accessible to users

Has anyone here worked on making product guides more accessible? We got feedback from users who said our font was too small and that the docs didn’t work well with screen readers. One person even emailed to say they couldn’t zoom in on the PDF! I really want to improve this, but I’m not sure where to start. How do you make your guides as accessible as possible?
